Why WorkWise?

Growing up in a low-income, single-parent household with a father in prison, I learned early on what it means to face life without inherited advantages.

As a first-generation college student, I felt the weight of navigating the professional world without a roadmap or network to guide me.

Even as I built my own success, I carried an internalized sense that I didn't quite belong in rooms with accomplished business leaders.

This personal journey revealed a truth: success in the professional world isn't just about talent or hard work—it's about access, relationships, and seeing a path forward that feels within reach.

Many of us look at successful business leaders and see an unbridgeable gap.

We see polish where we feel rough edges, confidence where we feel doubt, and advantages where we see our own challenges.

But here's what I've learned: behind every successful leader is a story of uncertainty, obstacles overcome, and lessons learned the hard way.

Through WorkWise, I'm working to change the networking narrative in Milwaukee.

We connect with successful business leaders who are eager to pay it forward, capturing their real stories—not just the highlights, but the struggles, the doubts, and the unexpected turns that shaped their journey.

These aren't just polished success stories.

When you hear the vulnerability in a CEO's voice as they recount their early failures, or the passion as they describe overcoming obstacles, something shifts.

The impossible becomes possible. The intimidating becomes approachable. Real connections are made.

WorkWise is about creating the professional community I wish I'd had—and that many of us in Milwaukee are looking for right now.

It's about making networking feel natural, not forced.

About turning those "I should network more" thoughts into actual relationships that move careers forward.

Every interview, every event, every connection shared is another brick in the bridge we're building in Milwaukee's professional community.

Because when you hear yourself in someone else's story, something powerful happens. Success stops feeling like a club you need to be born into and starts feeling like a path you can navigate—especially with the right guides by your side.

This is why WorkWise exists: to create a professional community in Milwaukee where genuine connections replace awkward networking, where real stories trump polished narratives, and where your next career opportunity is just one authentic conversation away.
